Engage with our Artist-in-Residence and their work through one of our Art Explorations. These guided discussions of the resident artist exhibition allow the work to become more meaningful to you as you udnerstand the background and participate in an interactive discussion with other art lovers.

Visit Lux and explore our exhibitions at your leisure. Visit our Artist-in-Residence in studio at the Artist Pavilion, our Regional Artist Exhibition in the Linda Formo Brandes Gallery, and stroll Lux's Nature Trail. Information about the exhibitions and maps of the grounds are available at the front desk.
Take advantage of the unique opportunity to explore art through an open dialogue with a guided tour by one of our trained Lux Liaisons.
Bring your class for an interactive tour that includes a 45‐minute docent‐led exploration of the artist studio. Students have the opportunity to meet the artist‐in‐residence during residency periods or to explore the residency exhibition in the studio with a Lux Liaison during non‐residency times.
K‐8 students experience creativity in action with a field trip to Lux Art Institute. Each Luxcursion includes a docent‐led tour through the artist’s studio, exhibition areas, sculptural installations and native landscape of the Lux grounds. Following the tour, students take part in a hands‐on art project related to the current exhibition(s).
Luxcursions are available:
Thursdays and Fridays during artist‐in‐residency periods; Tuesday through Friday during non‐residency periods. Lux can host a maximum of 32 students per school group.
FACILITY RENTALS ARE TEMPORARILY SUSPENDED IN ACCORDANCE WITH CALIFORNIA STAY-AT-HOME ORDERS
Rent the Artist Pavilion, the Education Pavilion, or both, depending on the feeling you want to create for your special event. Lux can accommodate your birthday party, cocktail party, wedding, lecture, dinner, professional development activity, or other private event. Plus, Lux teaching artists can moderate an art-inspired activity for your group of coworkers or kids, designed for both interactive fun and team building.

The Lux Education Pavilion is beautifully suited for any kind of event. Our four large art studios open onto a lovely, spacious garden and inviting open‐air amphitheater, which together create a unique and beautiful atmosphere for your special occasion.
The Artist Pavilion, with its light, bright, and airy gallery space and beautiful hillside views will make your event an unforgettable experience. We will work with you to find an available date and time that suits your own needs and complies with any restrictions a given exhibition might have. We will also ensure that you have an extraordinary event while we adhere to the security guidelines demanded by our museum‐grade facility.
Lux provides affordable activities for your parties and events, including art-based creative activities for kids and adults. Also, Lux offers creative professional development activities for corporate employees and Boards, designed to stiumlate creative thinking and collaboration in a fun and relaxing environment.
Lux Art Institute is located on a five‐acre parcel overlooking the San Elijo Lagoon and is surrounded by a wildlife preserve that stretches two miles to the Pacific Ocean. Discreetly nestled in the hillside above the San Elijo Lagoon, the facility reflects the open relationship Lux fosters between art and environment.
