Auction Item: Ally as Viola by Lux resident artist Charles Moxon

This exquisite portrait was completed by British artist Charles Moxon during Lux's 2015-16 Season. The subject is actress Ally Carey of the Old Globe who posed for Moxon as Viola from Shakespeare's Twelfth Night, a two-month collaboration between Lux and the Old Globe. Moxon's portraits are reminiscent of 17th-century Dutch Old Masters, to which he adds the observational detail and hyper-reality of contemporary photorealism. Moxon completed his BA with Honors in painting at London's Camberwell College of Art in 2013 and was short-listed for the Young Masters Art Prize in 2012 and Open West exhibitions in 2013. He will be a special guest at this year's Lux After Dark.
