Chris Burkard is an accomplished explorer, photographer, creative director, speaker, and author. Chris travels throughout the year to pursue the farthest expanses of Earth. His visionary perspective has earned him opportunities to work on global prominent campaigns with Fortune 500 clients, speak on the TED stage, design product lines, educate, and publish a growing collection of books. His exhibition presents his surf and oceanscape photographs, connecting his passion to Encinitas' surfing history and culture.

This year's Creative Nights event embraces our community's strong surf culture here in Encinitas. See our Education Pavilion transformed by Chris Burkard's amazing photography. The event will be paired with the opening of our Chris Burkard: Pushing Frontiers exhibit, a screening of Chris' documentary, music, food and refreshments/drinks. Don't miss the opportunity to meet the artist and enjoy an evening of surf culture with other surf enthusiasts.

Chris Burkard San Diego Photo Workshop
Saturday, November 12th
Chris Burkard will be leading a collaborative photo workshop @ Lux. This 1-day workshop will go from 8:00am-6:00pm and cover a wide array of topics from photographic theory to in depth business practices. Following a group session format, students are encouraged to ask questions at all times which enables an organic and spontaneous atmosphere.

Ages 9-17: 2pm-4pm
Register your artists for this exciting day of workshops where students will explore the exhibition and learn photography basics. The workshops will give your young artist the opportunity to meet the man behind the camera and create work inspired by the exhibit, Chris Burkard: Pushing Frontiers.
